The movie features an all-star cast, including Alex Sharp as Mr. Wormwood, Kacey Musgraves as Mrs. Wormwood, Raphael Sbarge as Michael Wormwood, and Lashana Lynch as Mrs. Phelps. The trailer gives us a first look at Weir in action as Matilda, and she looks perfectly precocious in the role. We also get glimpses of Thompson in full Trunchbull mode, complete with muscular arms and a severe scowl.
The musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic book was first staged in 2010, winning 7 Olivier Awards (including Best New Musical) and 5 Tony Awards (including Best Book of a Musical). It features catchy tunes like “Naughty” and “When I Grow Up”, which are sure to get stuck in your head after watching the trailer.
