The Athenaeum (Theatre 2)
Until 25 June

I would say I am an avid reader, I first fell in love with Arthur Miller’s The Crucible when I studied the play in my english literature class in high school. This 1953 play brings the dramatised story of the Salam Witch Trial
The opening act sets the tone for which the play is based upon. The trials and tribulations of young women experimenting with witch craft and facing the consequences of their actions.
The entire cast were outstanding with each and every line they delivered, with raw emotions bringing the story to life on the stage. Both Clair Duncan’s performance as Abigail Williams and Briana Esmé Mcgeary were absolutely phenomenal from start to finish you feel every emotion they go through, Arthur Miller would be astounded by not only their adaptation of his play but the whole production.
With minimal set design and period costumes The Crucible is still a dark and powerful play which brings to light the harsh realities of The Salem Witch Trials of false accusations and punishments of trying to saver one’s reputation within the community.
This show is not for the faint hearted, be prepared to be shocked, in awe and feeling vulnerable by the end. I loved every minute.
